Leeds vs Everton: Whites are worth sticking with

Kick-off: 1500, 21/08/2021

Stadium: Elland Road

Leeds eventually took a hiding at Manchester United but some of the stylish football which served them so well last season was still on show.

With a couple of key players now ready to come back and a big Elland Road crowd to roar them on, the Whites are fancied to see off Everton.

We’re happy to take 6/5 for a home win as our first Leeds vs Everton prediction.

A Look At Leeds United’s Betting Odds

Leeds briefly threatened to spoil the party at Old Trafford when Luke Ayling fired in a thunderbolt equaliser early in the second half.

However, they were unfortunate to come up against Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in inspired form as the Red Devils romped to a 5-1 triumph.

The Whites will now hope to regroup and repeat last season’s reaction to a 6-2 drubbing at the same venue, when they recovered to claim back-to-back wins.

“We’ve been beaten here last year, so it’s nothing new to us and we came back from that and did alright until the end of last season,” declared Ayling.

“We’ll go back, have a look at it, get a few players back in the team and we’ll go again.”

Kalvin Phillips was rested due to his Euro 2020 exertions but should be ready to add bite in midfield.

Up front, Raphinha wasted a glorious late chance but it is worth noting he did score in both games against the Toffees last term.

Looking at the Leeds vs Everton odds, we like 13/5 for him to net at any time again here.

Last Leeds line-up: Meslier, Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Struijk, Dallas, Harrison, Klich, Bamford, Raphinha, Rodrigo.

Defender Diego Llorente is hoping to return to contention next week after missing out at Old Trafford due to a muscle strain.

A Look At Everton’s Betting Odds

Rafael Benitez began his Everton reign with a 3-1 triumph over Southampton at Goodison Park, despite going behind in the opening period.

Richarlison, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted in a strong second-half performance, with the Brazil ace particularly impressive.

The 24-year-old was a Copa America finalist and Olympic gold medal winner over the summer but showed no signs of fatigue.

“It wasn’t a gamble to play him,” insisted Benitez. “He told us he wanted to play, I told him he had to score, he did it and everybody is happy.

“We knew people would say he could be tired. The reality is that his match fitness is good. We gave him one day off to be sure he was fine.

“We will try to bring the best from him in the next couple of weeks and after give him some time to recover fully for the rest of the season.”

The Toffees will be a threat going forward on that evidence but may struggle to match the energy of Leeds in midfield.

Let’s finish off our Leeds vs Everton tips by taking 8/1 for a 2-1 home victory.

Last Everton line-up: Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Digne, Coleman, Allan, Townsend, Doucoure, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Gray.

James Rodriguez will be absent again for Everton, but Moise Kean can be called upon.
